Bedford General Store – c. 1838
612 Old Post Road
Country store, post office and for many years an antique shop, this small building
originally stood on Pound Ridge Road. It was moved to its current site next
to the Old Burying Ground in 1890. The Bedford Historical Society purchased
it in 1968. In 2008, after extensive restorations and renovations, the
Society moved its offices into the building. In this multi-purpose space,
educational programs are held, rotating exhibits of the Society’s collections
may be viewed and in the spirit of its original function as a general store,
Bedford souvenirs and penny candy are sold.
