GENERAL STORE - c. 1838 Country store, post office and for many years an antique shop, this small building stood originally on Pound Ridge Road. It was moved to its current site next to the Old Burying Ground in 1890. It is the oldest commerical building in Westchester County and was purchased by the Bedford Historical Society in 1968. In 2008, the the society restored and renovated the building as its headquarters. It is now a place for information and education, a resource for research and archives; a place where Bedford's history is brought to life daily. |
