The Burning of Bedford Commemoration, July 11th 2009
More than 200 guests attended our fundraiser on July 11th at Daisy
Hill Farm. The event commemorated
the 230th anniversary of the Burning
of Bedford by the British and to celebrate Bedford’s storied comeback.
The evening included a dramatic Revolutionary War re-enactment
by more than 60 participants at the
“Commanding Heights” on the
field where lookouts first encountered the British in 1779. The
“burning”
was followed by a spectacular bonfire and cocktails by
torchlight. All proceeds from the event benefited
the Historical
Society's Properties Fund.
