The Bedford Store - soon to be the new home of the

Bedford Historical Society

The Bedford Historical Society is a non-profit, educational institution committed to preserving our historic Town and original Village Green, to educating students of all ages in Bedford's unique history and to interpreting our collections for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.

In addition to operating and maintaining our historic buildings, we open our two museums to the public from April to December with the help of our devoted volunteers.  The Society also sponsors lectures of historical and community interest, educational tours, special exhibits of our collections, and special events that promote an appreciation of our history.  We work to preserve and collect our local historic treasures and to provide educational information to those studying local history.

The objectives of the Society, as stated in the Certificate of Incorporation, are:

"To discover, locate and preserve places and buildings of historical and antiquarian interest within the Town of Bedford, to discover, procure and preserve objects of like interest and whatever may relate to the natural, literary and civil history of the said Town, to establish and maintain collections of such Objects, to erect and maintain historical monuments, tablets and boundaries, to stimulate and encourage interest in such work and to further all efforts looking towards the accomplishment of the afore-said purposes or either of them."
